Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the holy spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
I’ve never been to Samaria and likely couldn’t even pinpoint it on a map if you asked me to. What I do know is that this is where my ends of the earth begins, Western Kentucky. Map laid out in front of me… Would this be the place I choose to exist? Nope, but God planted me here for a reason. My roots are planted and securely growing. This is my Samaria. But, for anyone interested here is Samaria for real:
So, what does that mean exactly? Well, I didn’t quite realize I received power at age 11. I was Saved and Baptized at my Grandmother’s church 20 years ago. It has just taken me this long to realize the responsibility I carry from the covenant that I entered upon with God that day. I was packing heat and didn’t even know it. Some kids at age 11 do their part to change the world once they’re Saved. I was lucky to wear matching clothes. 11 year old logic told me that my work was done. I wasn’t going to Hell so basically if I didn’t murder anyone or do anything too awful I was good. I didn’t even NEED to go to church anymore. Wrong.
Sometimes a list of wrongs is exactly what it takes for us to be effective with the power that God gives us. We all have a testimony. Our testimony is our power, our very own kill shot. It is unique to us and life changing. There are a few definitions for “Testimony”. Here are a couple different ones: “A declaration by a witness under oath , as that given before a court or deliberative body.” and “A public declaration of a religious experience.”
While people can argue with you about theology, timetables, and biblical truths; they can’t argue with you about your testimony. It happened for real in current time where most everyone watched your life events unfold. We are witnesses under oath to God to spread the word. If you’ve been Saved you’re packing heat so power up people! If not, I can’t wait to share my testimony with you. If it can help even one person along their journey then that makes my struggle that much more worthwhile.
